War film 2: Platoon (1986)

In 1986 Oliver Stone was at last able to turn his Vietnam experiences into a film - Platoon. The first in what would become his 'Vietnam trilogy', it starred Charlie Sheen, Willem Defoe and Tom Berenger, and went on to be nominated for eight Oscars, winning four.     I just want to say that this review makes me want to see the film. I think that Platoon has the sort of popularly-acclaimed, popularly-lampooned baggage in America that Lawrence of Arabia seems to have in the UK - so unfortunately I've never taken the time to see it. Thanks to the podcast, now I know how much I've been missing out on a great story!
